Unless you’re doing laundry, it’s safe to say that any use of the term whites-only is racist.
But Don Lewis, the commissioner of the new, Georgia-based “All-American Basketball League,” denies that the league’s whites-only policy is rooted in bigotry. “I don’t hate anyone of color,” he says. “But people of white, American-born citizens are in the minority now. Here’s a league for white players to play fundamental basketball.”
He asks, “Would you want to go to the game and worry about a player flipping you off or attacking you in the stands or grabbing their crotch?”
Well, no, Don, we wouldn’t. Last we heard, though, white guys have middle fingers, and tempers, and crotches. Here’s our question, Don: Does your big white hood ever get in the way when you’re taking driving to the hoop?
A basketball player I increasingly like is Turkish, so does that count as ‘white’?
