No doubt, it’s absurd that the abortion question is still a question in America. Still, the controversy surrounding Tim Tebow’s decision to appear in an anti-abortion ad – and CBS’s decision to run it – is a bit overblown.
The Florida Gators star quarterback and Heisman winner comes by his views honestly: His mom was a missionary in the Philippines when she became pregnant with him; when she came down with amoebic dysentery, doctors recommended that she abort. Of course, she did not.
And now, with Tebow expressing his views in the most public manner possible, pro-choicers are up in arms. But they’re missing the point, which is that there’s only one clear loser in all this: Tebow himself. He’d be crazy to think that such an unpopular move won’t diminish his prospects for April’s NFL draft. Because if pro sports weren’t largely about popularity, Barry Bonds would probably be a Yankee. But they are. Which is why we say, let Tebow dig his own grave.

This may all blow up in Tebow’s face, or it might not. Regardless, adding a little controversy to the politically correct climate is encouraging. Besides, it’s clear the commercial is not so much abortion bashing, as celebrating living – a decent aim on anyone’s agenda – left or right. Again the hubbub is mainly about an uncontrolled left, who ironically (and systematically) neither understands nor tolerates dissenting views. An ironic charge for a group which claims the opposite.
Good for Tebow! Idiots on the Sacrilegious Left are oh-so-tolerant of anyone who advocates “a woman’s right to choose.” (otherwise known as the slaughter and blood sacrifice of the Innocent Unborn), or who is supportive of sodomy, but Tim Tebow publicly expresses his faithbased views and is targeted by the screeching harpies of radical feminism for whom abortion is the official sacrament? Goes to show just who’s tolerant and who’s not.
