Corner Shop, Friday, 9 p.m.

The love-it-or-leave-it décor features black lacquered tables and bright robin’s egg-blue captain’s chairs, but belly up to the tufted black leather bar to sample Da Cruz’s exhaustive classic cocktail list, dubbed “The Genuine Article,” and Sedlak’s West Coast take on traditional French bistro-style cuisine. Mains $15-$25. 850 Thurlow, 604-569-3415.
